Nurturing communities
Grass Boots has made it a priority to take an active role in nurturing our various communities.
We reach this goal through our work with charities by bringing children from the townships into our venue for life skill training, a meal and great soccer coaching. Although we charge a membership fee for those who can afford it, this is done on a sliding scale and we will not turn away a child on financial groups, even if it means a full subsidy and free soccer kit.
We have estabilished a local Boot Bank and throughout the year we hold collections at various points to collect boots and kit to share with disadvantaged children from all over Cape Town, ensuring that our love of the beautiful game is not restricted by financial limitations.
Because of the district affiliation and the need for all children to be registered with birth certificates Grassroots has instigated that all members who did not have birth certificates get them from Home Affairs.

Purpose
With the use of soccer as an instrument, Grass Boots FC aims to unite people of all ages and backgrounds. We recognize that we need more than "tolerance" to build a functioning society. "Tolerating" each other won't cut it. We need acceptance, understanding and knowledge of the other. We believe that nowhere can this be done faster and more successfully than through team-sport. We appluad and enjoy our social role and will continuously contribute to a positive development for youth in Cape Town.
Grassboots wants to change and shape the lives of our future leaders through sport. |
